राष्ट्रीय जनतांत्रिक गठबंधन ने बंगाल के राज्यपाल जगदीप धनखड़ को अपना उपराष्ट्रपति पद का उम्मीदवार बनाया है। ये फैसला बीजेपी के संसदीय बोर्ड की बैठक के दौरान लिया गया। विपक्षी दलों ने उपराष्ट्रपति पद के चुनाव के लिए राजस्थान की पूर्व राज्यपाल मार्गरेट अल्वा को अपना संयुक्त उम्मीदवार बनाने का फैसला किया किया है।
